Angling

It's so popular, it must be fishy!

Angling is one of the most popular sports and pastimes. Its popularity has increased over the years and people of all ages and walks of life enjoy the many different types of fishing available in the UK today.

Although most people fish purely for fun and relaxation, others take the sport more seriously and take part in competitons.

Living Heritage host 'Have a Go' sessions at their fairs, where they offer free twenty minute angling lessons with knowledgeable professionals. Since starting 'Have a Go' angling sessions at the shows, the professionals, groups and societies involved have seen many visitors become ardent fans of the past time, developing a skill for life.

Carrilon - UK Fly Casting Competition

Carrilon will be running there UK Fly Casting Competition at a number of Living Heritage Game and Country Fairs. The competition is unique in that it is more challenging than its alternative fly casting competitions of distance casting and in-line hoop-to-hoop accuracy events.

In this event candidates cast at 5 targets around a course, that proficient fly fisherman would expect to use in actual fishing situations.
