Horses make an entrance!

Horses are making some big entrances at this year's fairs. The events are varied, thrilling and very entertaining. Showjumping from the Zetland Hunt, Llama displays, scurry racing and extreme horse boarding are all included.

Horses have been a vital part of country life over the years, as a means of transportation and as an important part of the work force. They are still used today to work in the most dense and difficult conditions.

Horse logging demonstrations can be seen in the specialist arena. Other  competitions such as scurry racing and mounted games, can be seen in the main arena.

Horse Boarding Horse Boarding

Extreme horses!

Horse boarding started on UK shores in 2008, hitting the country with force through the 2009 season. The sport combines the excitement of horse racing with the extreme nature of mountain boarding and guarantees an action -packed spectacle for contestants and spectators alike.

Heavy Horse Logging Heavy Horse Logging

Trees are logged

Heavy Horse Logging is still used today as a way of clearing logs through dense forest. Even with today's technology and machinery, some areas are still inaccessible and so heavy horses are employed to do the job.

A traditional way of working horses handed down through generations, can be seen at Horse Logging demonstrations, in the specialist arena
