Equestrian
Horses make an entrance!
Horses are making some big entrances at this year's fairs. The events are varied, thrilling and very entertaining. Showjumping from the Zetland Hunt, Llama displays, scurry racing and extreme horse boarding are all included.
Horses have been a vital part of country life over the years, as a means of transportation and as an important part of the work force. They are still used today to work in the most dense and difficult conditions.
Horse logging demonstrations can be seen in the specialist arena. Other competitions such as scurry racing and mounted games, can be seen in the main arena.

Games on horseback!
Mounted Games is a series of very fast races, exciting for participants and spectators alike, performed by young people on ponies in the main arena.
With national teams from around the UK competing against each other, why not come along and cheer for your local team.

Driving for success!
Come along and watch the Living Heritage Scurry Driving Championship take place in the main arena. The championship will run throughout a series of Game and Country Fairs.
An impressive event that tests both rider and pony as they race the carriage through a SDA designed course against the clock.

Take the lead!
The Llama Agility Racing at the shows is a first in the UK. The racing is fun and exciting with visitor interaction as members of the audience are bought into the arena to take the lead of a Llama! Watch two teams of super Llamas compete against each other in a fast action relay race.

Trees are logged
Heavy Horse Logging is still used today as a way of clearing logs through dense forest. Even with today's technology and machinery, some areas are still inaccessible and so heavy horses are employed to do the job.
A traditional way of working horses handed down through generations, can be seen at Horse Logging demonstrations, in the specialist arena

Extreme horses!
Horse boarding started on UK shores in 2008, hitting the country with force through the 2009 season. The sport combines the excitement of horse racing with the extreme nature of mountain boarding and guarantees an action -packed spectacle for contestants and spectators alike.

Ecological horses
The Cotswold Cart Horse Society was formed in 1996 by a small group of working horse enthusiasts and now has over one hundred members. Some are horse owners, many are not but all have an interest in the working horse.

Horse and hound!
The Zetland Hunt is displaying their hounds on Saturday and Sunday at the The Co. Durham Game & Country Fair in 2011.
This is a wonderful opportunity to see a pack of hounds close to as children are invited into the arena to meet this very friendly animal.
