Equestrian

Horses have been a been a vital part of country life as a means of transportation and work force. They are still used today to work in the most dense and difficult conditions.

These demonstrations can be seen in the specialist arena. Other types of horse are used for competitions such as scurry racing and mounted games, which can be seen in the main arena.

Scurry Driving Association Scurry Driving Association

Come along and watch the Living Heritage Scurry Driving Championship take place in the main arena. The championship will run throughout a series of Game and Country Fairs.

An impressive event that tests both rider and pony as they race the carriage through a SDA designed course against the clock.

Mounted Games Mounted Games

Mounted Games are a series of very fast races, exciting for participants and spectators alike, performed by young people on ponies in the main arena.

With national teams competing against each other come and cheer your local team.

Side Saddle Association Side Saddle Association

Come and see the The British Side Saddle Association demonstrate the way in which a lady in the early part of the century rode a horse in a elegant way.

Both horse and rider are in full costume to give authenticity to the period.

Heavy Horse Logging Heavy Horse Logging

Heavy Horse Logging is still used today as a way of clearing logs through dense forest. Even with todays technology and machinery some areas are still inaccessible and so heavy horses are employed to do the job.

A traditional way of working horses past down the generations can be seen with demonstrations in the specialist arena.
