Living Heritage is pleased to announce a new carriage driving spectacle for their audiences for 2012.
Following on from the immensely successful series of scurry driving through the SDA, Living Heritage has teamed up with the new Scurry and Trails Driving (BSTD) to bring a new slant on fast and exciting carriage driving competition with the inaugural series of ‘The Arena Driving Challenge’.
A fusion of scurry and trials driving sees this new competition open to pairs of ponies being driven at great speed around a course of driving cones and ‘obstacles’ which can all be easily knocked down to create penalty time points. The pair with the fastest time having added up any penalty points is the winner! Not only will pony pairs have their own class but this year also sees the single ponies get a chance to compete in their very own class too.
What will also be really unusual is that the competitions are open to drivers with scurry carts or driving trials vehicles. Again the emphasis is on entertainment although there is considerable prize money at stake too down to 6th place.
Living Heritage is to sponsor these classes at all of their game and country fairs throughout the summer and looks forward to seeing some new faces in the competitions as well as some of the familiar scurry driving competitors who, regulars at the country fairs, now know well.
