The Royal British Legion Band & Corps of Drums

The Royal British Legion Band & Corps of Drums Romford was formed in 1952 by the late Peter Richardson BEM and is one of the longest running independent youth bands in the UK today.  The band enjoys great  success and popularity and is very proud of its achievements which include 10 world titles, plus numerous UK titles for its marching, display and concert performances.

Although the band carries the name of The Royal British Legion with great pride and promotes them wherever it performs, the Band operates totally independently and is entirely self-funded.

Appearances over the years have included: the Edinburgh Tattoo, The Royal Tournament, Wembley Military Pageant, The Queen’s Birthday parade in London to name a few.  During the summer months the band is out most weekends performing at various tattoos, parades, veterans events and concerts throughout the UK and Europe.

In 2004 the band were invited to America where they performed at the Rochester International Marine Tattoo in New York State.

The youngest band member is 10 years old and the band has an average age of 17 years. The Band Director is Ian Yeoman, the musical Director is Mark Whiteman and the band is led by Drum Major Sam Jepson.
