Trochry Gun Dogs

Works like a dream!

Trochry Gun Dogs are breeders & professional trainers of English Springer Spaniels, Cocker Spaniels & Labrador Retrievers.

Based in Oxfordshire, their kennels are devoted to breeding, training and field trialing of working with spaniels and retrievers, which due to selective breeding programmes are by far the most popular working dogs used in the field today.

Paul provides both static displays and arena demonstrations showing how gun dogs are trained in the field.  His commentary is entertaining and informative and he's happy to answer any questions visitors might have.

The dogs are trained and worked on the Blenheim Palace Estate shoots. Not all owners of gundogs get to see what is expected from the dogs on shooting days, so the aim is to demonstrate the extent of work carried out by the dogs at the Living Heritage Country Fairs.

Shown in a simulated shooting environment and demonstrating what is expected from a working gundog along with the high standards of training that need to be achieved. The displays also demonstrate some of the basic techniques used in early training which also apply to dogs as pets.

Trochry Gun Dogs also train spaniels and pointing breeds to work with birds of prey. This fascinating combination of bird working with dogs can be seen in a joint display with Hawkeye falconer Chris Neal. fascinating to watch, it demonstrates spaniels working with Harris hawks and shows a setter working with a falcon.

Paul's team are on hand at their static display, where anyone can visit and see the dogs close up. They are happy to provide help and advice about any dog training issues visitors may have.

Away from the shows at their kennels, Trochry Gun Dogs provide one to one tuition with owner & pupil and take dogs in for residential training.  They cater for basic obedience for those people that just want a well behaved pet right through to gundog training and field trial standards.

Trochry Gun Dogs will be appearing at the following shows:
