News2011 Lurchers ResultsDec 15, 2011LurcherWorld’s Showing and Racing Finals prove hot at Gatcombe Park Game and Country Show with record temperatures of 26 C and record turnout! Singleton Cup Lurcher Championship sponsored by Living Heritage was awarded to Rosie owned by Chris Gadsden. Chris received a prize purse of £400 and took away the trophy and presentation sash. Reserve went to Mr Anthony Hardy with Ruby who received £100. Third and fourth places were awarded to Ian Braithwaite with Jade and Vicki Grocock with Pop. A big thank you to Mr John Humphries who judged this tough line up of entries. Our New for 2011 Bullcross Championship has proved to be a worthy addition to our show schedule. Bella owned by David Picton was awarded the first ever Bullcross Champion of Champions title. Ruby owned by Lesley Edwards came a close second. Thanks go to Mr Cadwallender who judged this event. Bullet owned by Vicki Grocock was awarded the trophy for the most promising and improved dog throughout the year. This is the one to watch over the 2012 season! Beaver a greyhound cross owned by Caroline Richards took away the Judges Choice title. Reserve went to Rosie our Singleton Cup champion. Thanks go to Mr Brian Steel who had the difficult job of judging this championship. Junior Handler Champions this year were Ellis Harvey aged 9, Amy Collins aged 9, Charlie Gibson aged 10 and Sam Kitching aged 15 who all received trophy’s and prize money sponsored by Mr Steve Hurst. Thanks go to Amy Gould who judged this event. Chase the Bunny 2011 was won by Lesley Caines with Diesel and Jane Wood with Leo. Well done to these two worthy winners. Relentless Leia owned by Diane Gabbitas took away the title for the REDMILLS 1000 Guineas which was judged by REDMILLS representative Mr Malcolm Clarke. With a total of 40 dogs entered into the final, Irish bred Leia had to win a total of 6 heats which she did with true determination and ease. Showing true camaraderie Diane agreed to share the prize money with the other finalist, last year’s runner up Poppy owned by Vanessa Bonner. Thanks go to Connelly’s REDMILLS, the company who provide natural dog food from the heart of Ireland, who sponsored the 1000 guinea prize money for this event. Helen Hulland took both the 100 yard dash (under and over 23”) titles with her entries Lyric and Roman registering times of 4.76 and 4.71 seconds respectively. Commiserations go to Vicki Grocock who was pipped at the post with times of 4.78 seconds for Pop (joint second with Helen’s Lucy ) and 4.73 seconds for Autumn. Helen received a total of £425 prize money and perpetual shield whilst Vicki went away with £75 and two consolation trophies. Well done to all the LurcherWorld Team who have made this event a success.
