Living Heritage Scurry Driving Championship Results 2009

Cheshire Game & Country Fair - Aug 28 to Aug 30, 2010

It has been a busy season with shows aplenty and Living Heritage Events chose the Cheshire Showground to hold it's Scurry Championships at it's last Game Fair of the season.  The majority of the members were present as Living Heritage holds a last ditch qualifier on the Saturday for both the smalls and large classes should a member not have qualified and Mark Hulme the owner of Living Heritage loves to be able to have as many members in the championship as possible.

The most magnificent trophies had been bought for the occasion and the main ring commentator, Dave Eager, had been primed to give the expectant crowd as much information as possible.  He even had the secretary, Carole Davenport, drive him around the course in trot so he could explain the rules, angles and course to the audience and he did an excellant job in introducting all the competitors.  No less than 18 pony pairs thrilled the audience as they paraded before the start whilst David gave a short introduction to each team.  Ivor Williams had built a championship course with quite a few trappy angles to catch the competitors out but even so only 8 competitors had one or more faults.

Jenny Bean, only days previously the Reserve National Scurry Driving Champion, went one better with Dun & Dusted to drive the course in 47.89 to take the championship to become the Living Heritage Scurry Driving Champion.  Not only first but she also clocked the second fastest time to be reserve champion too this time with Prim & Proper with past 2008 champion Robert Lightwood driving Song & Dance in third.
