Sandringham Game & Country Fair, Sep 11 to Sep 12, 2010
Sandringham Game and Country Show - this show has evolved over the years to become one of the most prestigious Game and Country Shows of the year.
The extensive grounds offer an excellent shoot with John Bidwell, fishing with demonstrations from The Salmon & Trout Association, and other country pursuits and sports. The show will be working closely with the Sandringham Estate to retain its quality and popular attractions, and further develop the game element of the show.
The quality game element will also include a Retriever Test & Scurry by Bill Meldrum, this was a very popular event last year, efficiently run by one of Sandringham's former Keepers. This will be accompanied by The Gundog Multi-Scurry Challenge, Gundog Clinic, Lurcher Show, Dogzone Arena
Kings Lynn & Fenland Wildfowers Display will be offering advice on the merits of wildfowling and conservation of habitat. Along with B.A.S.C. Eastern who will be offering advice on Country Affairs.
The Falconry Village that was successfully introduced in 2006 will be present again, showing falconry display's, offering advice, raptor clinics and specialist trade and equipment stands.
With two action packed arenas and continual displays throughout the day, The Craft Village, Shopping Arcade and Food Glorious Food there's enough to keep the whole family entertained with a Great Day Out to Remember!

The Falconry Village comprises of a flying arena, indoor training arena, specialised trade stands, static displays, resident falconers plus guests, clubs and everything else you would expect to find at a falconry show.

Living Heritage hold a number of dog events and demonstrations at the Fairs, with something to interest every dog owner whether it be seeking advice, watching specialist demonstrations or entering your pet dog into the Fun Dog Show.
For the more competitive and professional there are pedigree Dog Shows, Lurcher Racing, Chase The Bunny (fun), Working Tests and The Gundog Multiscurry.

Horses have been a been a vital part of country life as a means of transportation and work force. They are still used today to work in the most dense and difficult conditions.
These demonstrations can be seen in the specialist arena. Other types of horse are used for competitions such as scurry racing and mounted games, which can be seen in the main arena.

Target Field Sports are traditionally associated with hunting and / or pest control, although nowadays most of these sports are simply done for fun.
At Living Heritage Game and Country Fairs all that attend are welcome to come have have a go at all of the target sports on offer. As well as beginners, those that are more experienced can enter the series of competitions. (see local press for details)

The House
Built in 1870 by the Prince and Princess of Wales, later King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, Sandringham was once described as 'the most comfortable house in England'. It has been passed down as a private home through four generations of British monarchs and is now the country retreat of Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh.
The main ground floor rooms, regularly used by the Royal Family, are open to the public and the decor and contents remain very much as they were in Edwardian times. Both Queen Alexandra and later Queen Mary were great collectors of objets d'art hence the profusion of porcelain, jade and crystal oriental figures. Members of the Russian and European Royal Families were frequent guests at Sandringham and brought gifts of enamel, silver and silver-gilt: Kaiser Wilhelm I of Germany gave a fine Dresden porcelain chandelier and mirror frame. Furniture was commissioned from the London firm of Holland & Sons by the Prince and Princess of Wales. The walls are hung with family portraits by the leading contemporary court painters: Heinrich von Angeli, Sir Luke Fildes, Franz Winterhalter and Edward Hughes. An important collection of oriental arms and armour is housed at Sandringham, brought back from the Far East and India in 1876.
