Show Information

The Hertfordshire Country Fair, Oct 06 to Oct 07, 2012

The Hertfordshire Country Show plays host to finals of country competitons run throughout the year. The Scurry Racing Competition comes to a climatic end, but can current champion Lucy Scott keep her crown? 

Lurcherworlds showing finals and Chase the Bunny finals take place over the weekend too.

There are two main show arena's offering all day entertainment supported by an array of country sports arenas and attractions.

Encompassing the arenas is endless country shopping, offering country clothing, accessories and equipment, handcrafted items, food and drink.

Visit the Craft Village with a traditional crafts demonstration area; During your visit why not treat yourself to some speciality food and drink from our Food Glorious Food Court. Watch the Chefs cook up some tasty treats when they appear in the Country Kitchen. 

 

All in all a great day out for all the family.

The vibrancy of the The Falconry Village stands out. A multitude of native and worldwide Birds of Prey gathered together, just waiting for their chance to fly! 

The  Falconry Village has two aims; To give visitors the thrill of spectacular flying displays, creating memories to last a lifetime! To create a wonderful area where visitors meet the world of falconry, where they can enjoy and explore all aspects of falconry including health, welfare and legal issues.

Dog Zone

Barking up the right tree!

The ever popular Dog Zone is fun, fast and furious! Every dog and every owner is sure to find something to join in with, watch and thoroughly enjoy.

Dog events are an important part of Living Heritage's fairs, so quite a few dog events and demonstrations are held at each Fair. Every dog and every owner should find something of interest, from simply seeking advice or watching specialist demonstrations, to entering a pet dog into the Fun Dog Show.

For more competitive dogs and owners, taking part in the pedigree dog shows or Lurcher racing or Chase the Bunny (pure fun) or working tests or the Gundog Multiscurry should fit the bill!

Dog Zone

Target Field Sports

Exceptional tuition, competiton and 'Have a Go' sessions at every country fair. Target field sports are fun and waiting to be enjoyed!

Target Field Sports are traditionally associated with hunting and pest control, although nowadays, the sports are mostly done for fun.

At Living Heritage Game and Country Fairs, visitors are welcome to come have have a go at all of the target sports on the day. As well as beginners, the more experienced can enter a series of competitions. (see local press for details)

Craft Village

Throw a pot, make a face and have some fun!

Crafts have always been present at the fairs, originally as a small craft area, and has been built up over the years to include specialist demonstrations areas such as glassblowing, rural skills, Blacksmiths and chainsaw carving. Today, the craft area is a show within a show. An integral part of the fairs.

Childrens Entertaiment

It's fun to learn

Introduce your children to some popular country sports, free of charge, with 20 minute lessons in the ‘Learn how to’ section of the country fair.

At the fairs children can experience first-hand for themselves, a variety of country life pursuits and skills with experts to guide them .

Finals

Throughout the Series of Living Heritage Game and Country Fairs, there are a series of competitions. Each Show will have its own heat with the winners of each competition for each discipline being invited to take part in the Final.

The Final will be held at a designated Show and will not be necessarily held at the Final Show of the Season. This may be due to venue restrictions or the competition organiser’s choice. Please see Show Details or ask competition organisers for further information.

Hertfordshire Showground is a purpose built showground of approximately 70 acres.  It is located north of Redbourn village on the A5183, 300m from junction 9 if the M1.
